Rooibos is very often included in the tea family, even though it comes from a completely different group of plants and is not related to the tea bush. Called rooibus, it is found in Africa, where it has been popular for many centuries and valued for its taste and health properties. It came to Europe only in the previous century, becoming an alternative to tea infusions.
Rooibos has a very distinctive flavor. It is mild, extremely sweet, reminiscent of honey, and at the same time intense - clearly herbal. This combination makes Rooibos unique. What's more, it contains iron, zinc and fluoride, and does not contain caffeine or theine.
A method of preparation:
Rooibos leaves are very finely cut, so it is best to brew them in a strainer or filter. Pour boiling water over the tea and wait 3-5 minutes or even longer - in order to obtain a stronger infusion. After brewing, rooibos enjoys not only excellent taste and aroma, but also a beautiful, maroon colour.
